"Going with the flow"

Many times I have mentioned “trust the process of life” or as we say “go with the flow”. However, in reality, it is easier saying it than consciously living it.

One of life's greatest lessons is learning that not everything is within our control. No matter how carefully we plan, life can bring unexpected changes, challenges, and opportunities. Yet many of us spend a great deal of energy resisting what is happening, wishing things were different, or trying to force outcomes that will better align with our own expectations.

The habit of expecting life to unfold according to our preferences can be frustrating. When we cling to how things "should" be, we can miss out on possibilities that exist in what actually is. There may be lessons yet to be learned or blessings in disguise.

Control, expectations, and resistance may create an illusion of safety, but they can also become barriers to our personal evolution. New experiences, unfamiliar situations, and unexpected detours often bring the opportunities for growth, wisdom, and new connections. When we resist them, we delay our own progress in experiencing life as part of the soul’s journey on earth.

In many ways, it is as if we are standing in front of our own path, blocking the door that life is trying to open for us. The more tightly we hold on, the harder it becomes to move forward.

When we learn to trust the process of life, we have to recognise and accept what is, not as a giving up, but rather an allowing ourselves to flow with change rather than fight against it. When we release the need to control everything, we create space for new possibilities. It is as if we are opening up to what life has to offer next, something leading to deeper wisdom and greater peace.

A regular practice of meditation helps to strengthen our will, leading to courage to face the unknown. A difficult decision may be the best one for the greatest step forward.

We need to simply get out of our own way.
