"Setbacks and comebacks"

Life certainly has a way of disrupting the flow of ideas and plans. I’ve had my left arm in a sling as I recover from a damaged wrist, and a bruised for a month. An innocent trip over something in my own bedroom that morning challenged everything from pain tolerance to mindset and emotional balance.

This setback stopped the momentum of my thoughts and forced me to live fully in the present. And of course, that very human habit of asking “Why me?” or “Why now?” surfaced several times especially as I had family visiting, and I suddenly felt like a burden, even useless and hopeless.

It only takes a moment to change the course of your life.

In many ways, this felt like my soul reminding my mind and body to slow down, pause, and hold space for myself. It has become a true test of the practice of mindfulness,  an unexpected stretch of time at home for self-evaluation, for letting go of disappointments, wrongdoings, and any outdated versions of behavior.

While I surrender to slowing down in the process of recovery, I know many are going through a process of healing of sorts. The body-mind-emotions seem to be tested in the journey of life in order to evolve, with a continual necessity to bring balance and wellbeing.
